THAT IS WHAT WE WANTED TOREAD EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RED LINE TO THEIR WE CONSIDER THAT A WIN . WE GOT WHAT WE WERE SEEKING OUT OF THE SESSION BECAUSE ALL THE BILLS FAILED. AND SINCE THE BILL PASSED, THE CITY OF VICTORIA WILL BE ABLE TO USE EXISTING TAX DOLLARS, THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX TO INCENTIVIZE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HOTEL AND CONVENTION CENTER IN OUR COMMUNITY. AND TO DEVELOP A CONVOCATION CENTER IN OUR COMMUNITY. THAT IS TWO THINGS WE COULD NOT PREVIOUSLY DO. SO NO NEW TAXES, BUT A NEW EXISTING TAXES AND I THINK THAT IS A POSITIVE FOR OUR COMMUNITY. THE OTHER ONE I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT IS THE PAYMENT OF DEBT SERVICE BILL FOR THAT IS A BILL YOU OPPOSED BECAUSE YOU WILL REMEMBER IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM THAT WOULD REQUIRE THE CITY TO GO OUT FOR BOND ELECTIONS ON ALMOST ANY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT LIKE STREETS AND ROADS ANY TIME WE WERE SELLING BONDS. THAT BILL DID PASS, BUT IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY AMENDED ALONG THE WAY. TO ADD EXCEPTIONS TO ALMOST EVERYTHING THE CITY WOULD NEED. STREETS AND ROADS, PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITIES, EXPANSION OF EXISTING FACILITIES, PARKS. JUST ABOUT ANYTHING WE WERE SEEKING TO HAVE AN EXCEPTION WITHIN WE INCLUDED.
